Hesco Barrier, or Hesco Bastion, Gabion Defence wall, is a modern gabion primarily used for civilian application, such as flood management, erosion control, slope stabilization etc, and also military fortifications. It is made of a collapsiable wire mesh container and heavy duty geotextile liner, and used as a temporary to semi-permanent levee or blast wall against flood, explosions or small-arms etc.
Different from common gabions, which are usually filled with stones, Hesco Barrier are usually filled with sand, soil or gravel, as it has a heavy duty non-woven geotextile liner, which reduces permeability of the wall.
Hesco Gabion is manufactured from welded steel wire mesh and joined with vertical, helical-coil joints. Each units are lined with a heavy-duty non-woven geotextile fabric. When joined and filled, the system can be used to create barrier walls of exceptional strength and structural integrity.
Size and material:
The Hesco Barrier can be built to any required length and to any height. Example dimensions of typical configurations are from 0.6x0.6x1.2m to 2.2x1.5x30m.
Each units are manufactured from welded mesh panels, either in 4mm or 5mm zinc galvanized or Galfan coated wire. The mesh usually has a spacing of 75x75mm, special mesh size like 50x50mm, 100x100mm, 50x100mm can be customized.
Hesco gabion is lined with ISO Standard 200g/m2 heavy-duty non-woven geotextile, available in white, green or sand color.
Most of the barriers can be stacked, so they are shipped collapsed in compact sets.
